Brad Riddell is the fighter to watch
Get to know UFC lightweight prospect and Australian native, Brad Riddell, ahead of his UFC 263 preliminary headliner with Drew Dober.
Riddell sits at 9-1 as a professional and has competed in the UFC since October 2019. Since joining the promotion, Riddell is unbeaten under the UFC banner, as he has defeated the likes of Jamie Mullarkey and Magomed Mustafaev. In Riddell’s most recent outing, he defeated Alex Da Silva Coelho during the UFC’s fall 2020 stint on Fight Island. Riddell won the fight via unanimous decision, which increased his current win streak to six-straight.
Riddell’s last loss came in July 2018, where he was submitted via armbar against Abel Brites in the first round just 65 seconds in, marking his first and only defeat thus far.
In 10 appearances, Riddell has five KO/TKO’s and four decision wins, as he has yet to win a fight via submission.
How will Brad Riddell handle Drew Dober?
Without question, Dober is the most experienced fighter that Riddell has faced. Dober enters the bout at 23-10, 1 NC, and most recently fought at UFC 259 against Islam Mahkachev, as Dober lost by late third-round submission due to an arm-triangle choke.
The loss to Mahkachev snapped a three-fight win streak for Dober, who hadn’t suffered defeat since an armbar at the hands of Beneil Dariush in March 2019.
Dober is primarily a finisher, as 16 of his 23 wins have come by KO/TKO or submission. However, Dober is slightly more consistent with knocking his opponents out, as 10 of his wins have come by KO/TKO.
Can Riddell survive Dober’s aggressive attack or can Dober dictate the pace? The world will soon find out.
